BackTempo Link support

Get connected.
Keep moving.

Set up trusted devices, share from Finder and archive phone originals on your Mac. Start with the guide for your connection.

01

Pair nearby devices

  1. Open BackTempo Link on both devices and join the same Wi-Fi or local network.
  2. On the phone, you can continue in local mode without an account. Discover the Mac and start pairing. Between Macs, choose the nearby Mac in Add device.
  3. Compare the six-digit security code on both screens and confirm only if it matches.
  4. After pairing, select the trusted destination to send files. Start phone photo archiving from the mobile app.

A remembered Mac that is offline can use Check connection. This retries its trusted local connection without creating a new pairing.

02

Pair over the internet

  1. Sign in on both devices using the supported Apple or Google option. Local pairing is not a prerequisite for the general internet pairing flow.
  2. On one device, open the general + / Add device screen and request Show my code.
  3. On the other device, enter that eight-digit code in the internet pairing section and connect before the code expires.
  4. To add internet to an existing local device card, use that card’s connection management action. Generate the code on the selected device’s general + screen, then enter it in the guided flow.

The eight-digit code links internet devices. Photo archive access can additionally require comparing a six-digit security code on both screens; a previously verified local identity can be reused after verification. Never approve a code for an unexpected device.

03

Send directly from Finder

  1. Keep the main Link app running and connect the receiving Mac.
  2. In Finder, select one or more files or folders. Control-click and choose Share → BackTempo Link.
  3. Choose As is for individual files, or One ZIP to package the whole selection.
  4. Choose a connected Mac and approve receipt there if automatic acceptance is off.

As is: folders follow the main app’s folder archive setting. One ZIP: includes the full selection, including hidden files, with names and nested folders preserved. Project exclusion filters do not apply. Update the sending Mac’s app and its bundled Share extension together.

04

Archive phone photos and videos

  1. On Mac, choose the photo archive root folder and ensure it is writable with enough free space.
  2. On your phone, allow access to the photos and videos you intend to archive. Limited photo access restricts the available media.
  3. Open the trusted Mac’s photo archive action in the mobile app. For internet archiving, both devices must be online and the network must allow a direct connection.
  4. Start the archive. Each phone has a separate folder; the screen shows archive totals, saved/remaining/failed items and current-file progress.
  5. Pause when needed, then resume. Reconciliation checks saved Mac copies; a missing destination copy can be restored while the original remains accessible on the phone.

On updated iPhone and Mac builds, original resources include RAW/ProRAW, RAW + JPEG pairs, both Live Photo components and burst members. Edited renders and a reconstructed Photos library are outside this file archive. Live Photos can count as more than one archived file.

05

Choose a channel and find received files

  1. A verified device’s local and internet connections can appear in one card.
  2. Auto prefers an available local sending channel, otherwise an existing internet pairing. Local and Internet keep your selected channel for the next operation.
  3. Use the folder action on a Mac device card to open its ordinary received-files folder, including while the device is offline.
  4. New files are stored inside that sender’s folder under your receiving root. The separate photo action opens the photo archive location.

An active transfer does not switch channels. You can remove local, internet or both pairings from connection management; received files remain. Existing flat received files are not moved into the new device folders.

06

Delete your internet account

  1. On Mac, open Settings → Internet transfers → Delete account. On iPhone or Android, open Settings → Delete account while signed in.
  2. Read the confirmation. Apple users reauthenticate with the same Apple account; Google users confirm using their current signed-in session.
  3. Wait for completion. If deletion remains pending, keep the app’s session available to retry or check its status.

Deletion removes server-side account records, internet pairings and pending encrypted cloud transfer objects. Local-only pairing, original photos, received files, local photo archives and local transfer history remain on your devices. Account deletion details

Troubleshooting

Quick checks.

A nearby device does not appear

Keep both devices awake with Link open, allow local network access and check that firewall or VPN software is not blocking discovery. For a remembered Mac, try Check connection first. Local reception on phones is not available in the current mobile build; local phone transfers are sent to Mac.

Pairing fails or a code expires

Update both apps and check which flow you are using: six digits for nearby security verification, eight digits to link internet devices. Generate a new internet code on one device and enter it on the other. In the guided flow from a device card, the code must come from that selected device. For a trusted Mac, retry Check connection before removing any pairing.

Finder Share is unavailable or sends incorrectly

Open the main app, check that the receiver is a connected Mac, and make sure the sending app and bundled Share extension were updated together. If the share option is missing, check extension availability in macOS settings. Report the selected packaging mode and the affected file type to support.

Can I leave the archive running in another app?

On iOS 26+, an explicit start or resume can request system background execution; continuation is available only after iOS grants it. Earlier iOS versions or a denied request use foreground archiving and safe pause/recovery. Android uses a system transfer job or foreground service with a progress notification; notification permissions and system power rules affect availability. Background execution is conditional, and system cancellation can require manual Resume.

Photo archiving pauses or stops

Check photo access, Mac disk space, folder write access and network availability. iCloud-only originals may need to download before sending. After an app termination, reopen it and resume manually. Previously saved files are reconciled. Local interrupted files restart from the beginning; remote archive builds support verified partial-file resume when both ends support it.

Remote photo archiving cannot connect

Both devices must be online and paired for internet access. Remote archive access may also need the matching six-digit security confirmation. Direct connectivity depends on the networks; some firewall and NAT combinations prevent a connection. Use the same local network if a remote connection cannot be established.

A Mac archive copy was deleted

Keep the original on the phone and run the archive again. Reconciliation identifies missing destination copies and copies them again. Deleting a Mac copy does not delete the phone original.

Google sign-in reports a configuration error

Install the latest build from the supported distribution source. Contact support with the app version, Android version and where you installed it. Signing configuration depends on that installation source; no passwords or account tokens are needed.

Send us the useful details.

Email [email protected] with the platform and app version on both devices, the transfer route, and the exact step that failed. For Finder Share, include the packaging mode. Never attach private transferred content or passwords.
